Entertainment & Cultural
Attractions (Directions below are given
from the most convenient Interstate I-264 (Virginia
Beach Expressway - Old 44) exit ramps.

Map-
A.R.E. - Situated
on an old dune on the west side of Atlantic Avenue,
the Association for Research and Enlightenment is
located just north of the main resort area. The original
Edgar Cayce Hospital and the more recent library
building command the site between 67th and 68th Streets.
Beach Street USA
- The staging center for much of the Virginia Beach
Boardwalk summer festivities - from 17th to 25th
street at the oceanfront.
Cape Henry Lighthouses
- Take Atlantic Avenue to its northern terminus into
the east gate at Fort Story (beyond 89th Street).
The two lighthouses stand on either side of Atlantic
Avenue approximately one mile inside the fort.
Contemporary Arts Center
of VA - Changing exhibits and performing
arts are featured at this facility, located on 22nd
and Parks Avenue at the end of I-264, just across
from the Virginia Beach Pavilion.
First Landing Seashore State
Park - Take Atlantic Avenue north to 83rd
Street, where it bears to the left and becomes Shore
Drive. The entrance to the park will be about 3 1/2
miles west down Shore Drive on the left.
GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheater
- Great live entertainment reigns supreme from early
spring through the fall months. From the oceanfront,
take Pacific Avenue / General Booth Boulevard South
about 4 miles and turn right onto Dam Neck Road.
Proceed for about five miles, the Amphitheater is
at the corner of Princess Anne and Dam Neck Roads.
Mt. Trashmore
- One of the first public parks in the nation built
from trash, Mount Trashmore is located along side
I-264 just off the South Independence Boulevard /
Holland Road exit 17A. Mount Trashmore is 1/2 mile
on the left, just prior to the intersection where
Independence connects to Holland Road.
Ocean Breeze Fun Park
- Take Pacific Avenue south across Rudee Inlet where
the highway becomes General Booth Boulevard, the
water park and motor-world theme park is on the right,
one mile south of the oceanfront, just past the Virginia
Marine Science Museum at 849 General Booth Boulevard.
Pungo - From
the oceanfront take Pacific Avenue / General Booth
Boulevard South to Princess Anne Road. Turn left
onto Princess Anne and bear to the right where Princess
Anne and Sandbridge Roads fork. When you reach the
famous stoplight intersection at Indian River Road,
you have arrived in Pungo.
Sandbridge -
From the Oceanfront take take Pacific Avenue / General
Booth Boulevard South to Princess Anne Road. Turn
left onto Princess Anne and bear to the left where
Princess Anne and Sandbridge Roads fork. Proceed
down Sandbridge Road to the Oceanfront. For access
to Little Island City Park and Back Bay Wildlife
Refuge, take a right onto Sandpiper Road and follow
the road just past the residential section (about
3 1/2 miles), Little Island parking will be on the
left.
Virginia Beach Pavilion-
Trade shows, conferences and live performances have
all been brought to this central venue, conveniently
located at the terminus of I-264, just a few blocks
off the beach.
Virginia Marine Science
Museum - Take Pacific Avenue south across
Rudee Inlet to where the highway becomes General
Booth Boulevard, the Marine Science Center is on
the right, just a few blocks off the beach at 717
General Booth Boulevard.
